Swaps
It is frequently the case that two crew-members wish to exchange their duties for personal reasons.
MPG@Rail enable the crew-members not only to display their personal duty plan on their smartphone, but also to organize swaps with colleagues. For instance, a crew-member can identify a pairing that he would like to get rid of and describe what other pairings he would accept in exchange.
MPG@Rail identifies the possible swaps, i.e. the swaps that match the crew-members' wishes, that obey labor rules and that do not generate overtime payment. The possible swaps can be displayed in the planning interface so that a dispatcher can aceept or reject them.
In the example below, a crew-member would like to replace a duty on the 18th with a duty on the 11th, 12th or 13th. On his smartphone, the lower part of the screen shows the duties on these dates. A one-way sign indicates that a swap would not obey labor rules (for instance, the duties on the 13th cannot be swapped because the crew-member has other duties on that date). The color of the duty describes the swap possibilities:
green: the duty is currently not assigned - it is quite likely that the swap will be granted
blue : the duty is assigned to accolleague who would like to get rid of it and who would accept the offered duty on the 18th - again, it is likely that a swap is possible
orange: the duty is assigned to a colleague who like to get rid of it but is not looking for a duty on the 18th
grey : the duty is assigned to a colleague who does not wish to get rid of it
